I WILL NOT COMPROMISE MY STANDARDS - Hon. Solomon Kpomah

Following the recent threats by the councilors of Udu Local Government, and after Noticing the social media posts of deltan’s and the war of words all over the internet I decided to do a private investigation, my reason been that there was not a word said by the accused the Udu Local Government Chairman Hon. Solomon Kpomah in defense of himself, my first guess was he wasn’t on Facebook, but after doing a search on him i found out that he was on Facebook,
A detailed report was only made possible after interviews with the local government councilors and workers in the council headquarters in Otor - Udu, headquarters of the local government council.
In a document tendered to the Local Government Chairman dated 3rd of July, 2015, a date which saw council offices around the state under lock and key due to an industrial action embarked upon by employees of the various local governments, their reason was that of unpaid salaries. It was during this period that the councilors had a session which gave rise to the adoption of a document. The big question here is, was this sitting legal by the demands of the law, and if not as circumstances have shown here why was there a sitting and a resolution passed.

The Content
The councilors in their letter which they tagged "Resolution by Councilors" outlined the fact that as a result of unpaid salaries they could not discharge their duties effectively this they said was the fault of the Local Government Chairman.
They further went on to say they had resolved that hence forth, "a meeting of all councilors and the chairman should be held and a compromise reached before salaries are paid on monthly basis, with effect from this present allocation.

Critical Thinking
In a bid to identify the message in the letter, I tried to look up the meaning of the word compromise - according to the dictionary it defines it as an agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions or in order words agreeing to terms that expediently accept standards that are lower than is desirable. by that definition it simply means that  the councilors were looking for a situation whereby before salaries are paid there is a sharing formula of some sort between them and the chairman.
My investigation revealed that this did not go down well with the chairman who believed so much in equity and justice as well as fairness and a such could not be blackmailed.

Conclusion
In a message delivered by Hon Solomon Kpomah he stressed the need for members of the local government to work together, saying that a house that fights against itself cannot stand, he further extended his arms of friendship to the councilors urging them to come and help develop their father land, he urged them to put away any differences they might have and look forward to helping the governor realize his dream of prosperity to Deltans.
