It was as it were yesterday we remember the death of the Nigerian Bar Association chairman and his wife, Barnabas Chidi Igwe and Amaka Blessing Igwe popularly known and referred to as B.C and A.C his wife who were hacked and clobbered to death along Oraifite Street, Awada near Onitsha Anambra State by the notorious "Bakkassi Boys" under the payroll, control and management of

the then Governor, Dr. C.C. Mbadinuju and led on that dreary night of september 1, 2002 by the then State commissioner for works.

Their "crime" was their refusal to compromise the just resolution of the Nigerian Bar Association for the promotion of good governance in Anambra State. B.C., as the Chairman of the N.B.A. Onitsha, rejected a 5m naira inducement from Dr. Mbadinuju to back down on the demand for the rule of the law in our State. Amaka Blessing, his wife and a senior member of the Bar stood, as she was wont to, by her husband.

Today, the N.B.A., the Anambra State Government as well as the Federal Government have forgotten them and abandoned their 3 children.
For 8 years he reigned as Governor, the direct beneficiary of these sacrifices, Chief Sir Peter Obi (Okwute Anambra) refused all entreaties to immortalise the Couple or give a State scholarship/bursary to aid their 3 Infant Orphans! All that Chief Peter Obi offered to the 3 children was a photo session with them at the NBA NEC Meeting at Onitsha to be used for his 2nd-term-propaganda-purpose!

13 years on,I have not forgotten ... I will never forget!
